Fahid Island by Aldar: Abu Dhabi’s First Coastal Wellness Destination

Abu Dhabi’s real estate landscape is evolving with the launch of Fahid Island — a Dh40-billion wellness-focused coastal community by Aldar. Positioned between Yas and Saadiyat Islands, this masterplanned destination sets a new standard in premium waterfront living, blending sustainability, architecture, and well-being across a 2.7 million square metre island.
A First-of-Its-Kind Wellness Island
Fahid Island is being celebrated as Abu Dhabi’s first coastal wellness destination, designed to promote healthier, more balanced lifestyles through access to nature, active spaces, and sustainable urban planning. It has already received global recognition with Fitwel certification, making it the first island worldwide to meet this healthy building standard.
The island offers more than 6,000 premium residences, including apartments, townhouses, and ultra-luxury villas designed by globally acclaimed architects such as Kengo Kuma, Koichi Takada, ACME, and NAGA Architects.
Community, Sustainability, and Lifestyle in Harmony
Aldar is integrating over 30% natural landscapes into the masterplan, including mangrove forests, gardens, and shaded trails. A key feature is the 10km landscaped Berm Park, a wellness corridor with three dedicated cycling tracks that connect to Abu Dhabi’s larger cycle network.
At the heart of the community is a 2km waterfront promenade designed for social interaction and relaxation. It will feature boutique dining, curated art installations, and vibrant public spaces. Meanwhile, Coral Drive retail boulevard will house concept stores, cafes, a ballet school, and lifestyle outlets.
Education and Access for Modern Families
Fahid Island also focuses on family life and educational excellence. A new school is being established in partnership with a leading international education provider, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s vision of becoming a regional hub for learning.
Strategically located, Fahid Island offers seamless connectivity to Zayed International Airport and major leisure and cultural hubs—all within 15 minutes.
Setting New Standards for Sustainable Urban Living
Alongside its Fitwel status, Fahid Island has also received LEED Cities and Communities Platinum precertification, and is targeting Estidama 3 Pearl accreditation. These achievements solidify its position as one of the most environmentally responsible developments in the region.
The launch comes amid high demand from both UAE nationals and global investors. As Talal Al Dhiyebi, Group CEO of Aldar, noted, Fahid Island is one of the largest mixed-use masterplans to be unveiled in Abu Dhabi, marking a pivotal moment for the capital’s real estate market.
